Why is the image upside down?

Why?

When an image is viewed through the lens of any camera obscura it appears inverted.

To understand why this happens, consider a single point on an object outside the camera. Light rays from this point diverge in all directions. Some of these rays pass through the aperture of the lens and continue in a straight line. As a result, when these rays hit the surface inside the camera, they form an inverted image of the object.

What are we doing about it?

I created an app to rotate the image before capture, but it's a whole thing... and I'm really not a programer. It flips the image right side up, but doesn't do nearly as many other fun things as the dozens of great pro-photo apps out there.

If you're using the adapter as a viewfinder for shooting film, or if you want to snap a few shots, then give it a try: ObscuraFlex™ Flip
