Photographers have been seeking a cost-effective 4x5 digital back for as long as I can remember. Part of the challenge is the variety of camera hardware across all the hundreds of makes and models.
I am actively developing ObscuraFlex adapters and in 2025 managed to add Linhof Technika and Chamonix 4x5 to the list. My dream is to make ObscuraFlex™ a reality for as many large format cameras as possible. That includes most popular 4x5 brands. But I'm just one guy... doing all this as a side-hustle.
2026 UPDATE: I have recently released a "Graflok Universal" version of the adapter that should fit any 4x5 camera equipped with standard "Slide-Lock" spring bars as specified in the 1958 Graflex Patent. This includes most models from Graflex, Linhof, Toyo, Wista, Intrepid, Horseman, and many more.
There are hundreds of camera models out there, and you probably know yours better than I do, so please check it against the photo below, and the detailed information on the Graflock Universal Adapter product page.
The complication is the need for a light-tight and secure attachment that fits the exact specifications of each camera's connection hardware. This presents a new design and engineering challenge for each new camera.
