Use this adapter to harness the power of your smartphone to capture digital stills and video with the look and feel of 4x5 photography with most Graflok compatible 4x5 cameras from the 1950s onwards.

Please note that this generic Graflok version DOES NOT act as a viewfinder for shooting 4x5 film in the same way the camera-specific adapters do:

Camera-Specific Version: Attaches to your existing ground-glass/film-back like any other viewfinder attachment, replacing only the pop-up shade/hood. To shoot film you simply slide in a film-holder under the ground-glass as you normally would.

This Graflok Version: Replaces the entire ground-glass/film-back assembly of your camera and locks into place with the Graflok style Slide-Locks. This attachment does not allow for the insertion of film-holders the way most native spring-loaded film-backs do. To shoot film the adapter must be removed and your original back, film-holder, or other accessory must be reinstalled.

This generic version of the ObscuraFlex adapter is designed to fit any 4x5 camera that's equipped with standard Graflok style "slide-lock" mounting mechanism as patented by Graflex in 1949.

I don't have the resources to confirm the compatibility of every 4x5 camera that claims to be "Graflok Compatible" or even "Graflock" but many manufacturers introduced compatible Slide-Lock mechanisms. Some compatible models I am aware of include: Horseman 45FA, Toyo 45A/AX, Wista 45N, Intrepid 4x5, Linhof Technica IV & V, Graflex Speed Graphic, Super Speed, Crown Graphic, Etc.

Check your camera carefully before ordering and compare with the photos and these measurements:
Flange Dimensions: 120mm (4.73in) x 156mm (6.14in)
Flange Thickness: ~6mm (0.24in)

Any camera that is proven compatible with Graflok "Slide-Lock" style accessories such as the Polaroid 545 Land FIlm Holder Back, LomoGraflok Instax Back, FotoDiox Stitcher Backs, 120 roll backs, etc should be able to accept this adapter.

MODIFICATION REQUIRED

NONE: If your camera features Graflock compatible Slide-Lock hardware then it should fit snuggly and securely without any modification to your camera. If you have any doubt, email us BEFORE YOU ORDER.

GROUND GLASS

The adapter must be used with a 100mm x 127mm ObscuraFlex™ focusing screen. Sold separately and in kits.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

Similar to shooting fine grain low ASA film, this adapter requires plenty of light to produce the best quality images. A wide open high quality 4x5 lens should function well in good light. Depending on the capabilities of specific smartphone models, good results may also be possible with high ISO settings and/or extended exposure times in less ideal lighting scenarios.

Low light photography is not recommended.
Flash sync photography is not currently possible.

The ObscuraFlex™ system is still in active development and is constantly being tweaked and improved. The version you receive will be the latest version available at the time of your order and may not be visually identical to the version pictured here.
