To make this niche project possible, all items are MADE TO ORDER using on-demand manufacturing technology. Once your order is placed it cannot be canceled and cannot be returned under any circumstances.

NONE: The adapter is designed to fit the camera back without alteration. However, you may choose to replace your camera's ground glass, see bellow...

The adapter CAN be used with your existing ground glass, but if you intend to use the adapter to shoot digital stills or video with your 4x5 you may wish to replace your existing ground glass with one of our proprietary ObscuraFlex™ focusing screens for a more even, less grainy, and less vignetted result. See comparison pictures on this page or go here for a more detailed explanation. * The stock Chamonix fresnel screen on N1 models was placed UNDER the ground glass and need not be removed. On later models of Chamonix the fresnel was ABOVE the glass, and will be visible in your digital image.

Similar to shooting low ASA film, this adapter requires plenty of light to produce the best quality images. A wide open high quality 4x5 lens should function well in good light. Depending on the capabilities of specific smartphone models, good results may also be possible with high ISO settings and/or extended exposure times in less ideal lighting scenarios.

• Low light photography is not recommended.
• Flash sync photography is not currently possible.

This adapter was design and tested using the Chamonix 045-N1, but should fit all subsequent models. Not sure your camera is compatible? Please check the pictures to compare your camera back to the one shown. If you have any doubt, email us BEFORE YOU ORDER. 

• Most items are made to order and have a 2 to 4 week production time, please plan accordingly.
• To avoid loosing money we have calculated flat shipping rates based on our actual costs.

Orders shipped outside the US may be subject to import duty imposed by your country's government, these cost are NOT included in the purchase price and are your responsibility.

The ObscuraFlex™ system is still in active development and is constantly being tweaked and improved. The version you receive will be the latest version available at the time of your order and may not be visually identical to the version pictured here.

If you are planning to use the adapter to create your own phone cradle or other attachment use the SHOP menu for individual parts.
